I’m not sure I totally grasp what this means for existing publications, who would obviously love financial support and “special treatment” from Medium.

Will some of those be cherry-picked to be curated from more often, etc? Does it matter if they’re syndicating imported work from a website? Are custom domains coming back to support publishers taking up residence on Medium again, now the Partner Program seems to work for all parties?

If there’s renewed support for Publications again —fantastic news! —but will we see more design options and the return of the ability to request work from writers owners see? That whole thing is a big mess right now, especially if writers don’t put any contact details on their profile, or a Twitter link.

Lots of questions, more than this post covers, but in principle, I guess it sounds like a good thing that Medium are at least seeing the value of the Publications again.
