FF.W Murnau’s silent masterpiece Nosferatu was released 100 years ago in 1922, which means there’s been a full century of vampire films and television shows. From the ‘Golden Age’ of Universal classics with Bela Lugosi as Dracula, to the more recent offerings like Let the Right One In and What We Do in the Shadows.

And that’s not mentioning the hundreds of other examples in-between: foreign vampire tales like Cronos, comedies such as Vampire in Brooklyn, book adaptations of Salem’s Lot and Doctor Sleep, popular TV shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Being Human, cult favourites like Near Dark and Fright Night, cheap direct-to-video fare such as Bloodrayne and From Dusk Till Dawn 2–3, and high-profile blockbusters Blade II, Van Helsing, and many others.

So now feels like the perfect time to take a BIG BITE into vampire cinema in all its forms, partnering with the We Made This network on a new podcast called VAMPIRE VIDEOS.

Dan Owen and Hugh McStay are your hosts, welcoming a variety of guests to discuss the abundance of fanged fiends overs the years. We’re taking to experts with a particular love or connection to something, industry insiders, and maybe even a few famous names… but we’re equally happy to chat with passionate fans of vampires and horror. And while many titles on our list have brand recognition or are bonafide classics, we’ll also be covering more obscure offerings you perhaps haven’t heard of.

Vampire Videos will produce regular “batches” of episodes, with breaks in-between to give us time to plan ahead and find more guests. (But we’ll release ad hoc specials if any new vampire content randomly drops!) Many of the films on our hit-list aren’t easy to track down online, unfortunately, so finding the lesser-known titles may present problems. And that’s certainly where listeners can help with donations to support our work and help make this a thorough rundown and not just pick over whatever HMV and Amazon have in stock.

We have over 200 titles in mind after a brainstorm of potential episodes, so that will already keep us going for four years if we could somehow release 52 a year… and not a more likely 30.

When does the fun begin? Soon! 29 August to be precise… with an ‘Unholy Trinity’ of episodes to kick things off. Hope you’ll be listening!
